Building A Solid Foundation
Now that the footers have been poured, we are on to the next step!
This week, construction began on the concrete retaining walls which, when completed and the site filled, will raise the building by about 8 feet! There are a few reasons for this.
Raising the building will bring it safely (and comfortably) out of the flood plain. As we all know, self storage and flooding do not mix well!
With a high traffic area near the parks, a raised building provides an additional layer of security and more controlled access points.
With our customers in mind, the raised site allows for more versatile usage of the entrances. Loading areas and docks can be at the most convenient grade for whatever type of vehicle our customers are using (car vs. pick-up vs. tractor trailer!).
We’re excited to see the progress and hope you are too! Check out more pictures HERE to see the footprint of the 30,000 sf (or 2/3 or an acre!) building taking shape!
